Dear Neptune City Residents,
It is my pleasure and honor to serve our community as Mayor. This is the first update to you on my work. I hope these community updates will serve to increase transparency and community dialogue in our town.

You may also visit during office hours at Borough Hall: Tuesdays from 4-6 PM / Thursdays from 10 AM – NOON. No appointment needed.
Reorganization Updates
With our reorganization on the first of the year, we are thrilled to welcome new volunteer committee members to a number of Neptune City’s boards and committees, including the Drug Alliance, Shade Tree Commission and Veterans Committee. The newly created Community Relations Committee takes the place of the Memorial Day Committee, which will now fall under the Veterans Committee. The Community Relations Committee was created to engage greater involvement and provide support for the many community events held in Neptune City throughout the year. We’re also very excited to announce the creation of a Green Team (formerly the Environmental Committee). Forming a Green Team in Neptune City is an important step as we strive to take actions that protect our environment and make progress towards a sustainable future. The Green Team, part of Sustainable Jersey, includes nearly 400 Green Teams across the State of New Jersey. Green Teams provide the leadership to develop plans, implement programs and assist with educational opportunities that support the creation of a sustainable community. A full list of committees and chairs can be found at neptunecitynj.com. To get involved with our committees, please contact mayor@neptunecitynj.com
Resident Outreach
Along with Office Hours at Borough Hall, residents are encouraged to contact the Governing Body with concerns. Council President Pappas and I recently visited with neighbors on a Saturday morning to connect on local issues of importance in their neighborhood. We look forward to continuing the conversation!
Business Community Outreach
In order to facilitate strong, mutually beneficial relationships with our business community, engaging regularly with stakeholders will be an ongoing priority. During my first two weeks as Mayor, I met with senior leadership at TFH Nylabone, small businesses in Neptune City Shopping Center and others. We value our business community for its many contributions to the quality of life of our residents and I will continue to connect with business owners in town. Neptune City businesses are encouraged to contact me to share feedback or discuss concerns.
Flood Mitigation
Neptune City and Neptune Township recently convened a stakeholder meeting to discuss potential projects to address coastal flooding along Route 33 / Shark River / Route 35 / East End Ave and the surrounding region. I had the opportunity to participate in this meeting and represent Neptune City with Monmouth County Director Tom Arnone and Council Members Renee and Thomas. The Offices of Senator Vin Gopal, Asw. Margie Donlon and Asw. Luanne Peterpaul participated in the meeting along with Congressman Frank Pallone’s office. This meeting established important collaboration across levels of government and partnership with surrounding towns to plan for the future and successfully compete for funding that will address ongoing coastal flooding challenges. We appreciate the support from our county, state and federal partners.
Lead Service Line Replacement
New Jersey American Water has launched the Lead Service Line Replacement Program in Neptune City. If you received a letter from New Jersey American Water, you may have lead or galvanized material in your residential water line and it must inspected and potentially replaced (there will be no cost to the resident). CDM Smith, the contractor partnering with New Jersey American Water, will be in town starting Feb. 26 to inspect service lines and will carry official company photo I.D. badges and wear logoed high visibility vests. The inspection requires access to your home and is quick and simple. We are asking residents to help support this initiative to remove lead and galvanized material from our water lines in Neptune City. Please note: If your service line does contain lead, you may still use water as you normally do. Our water is regularly tested for lead to make sure it meets state and federal water quality regulations.
