The Office of Vital Statistics is responsible for registering all births, deaths and marriages within the Borough of Neptune City.  The registrar’s office provides certified copies of vital records, completes marriage license applications and registers domestic partnerships.

Certified Copies
You may obtain a certified copy of a vital record as long as event occurred in Neptune City.

• The fee for a certified copy is $10.00.

• Valid Identification is required.

• A vital record may be requested by an individual named on the record, their spouse, their siblings or their parents.

• You must submit identification and state your relationship to the individual named on the vital record you are requesting.

• Apply in person or mail requests to: Borough of Neptune City, 106 W Sylvania Ave., Neptune City, NJ 07753

For a certified copy of a birth certificate:
Supply the date of birth and the full name of the person and the mother’s maiden name, the father’s full name and your relationship to the person whose record you are requesting.

For a certified copy of a marriage certificate:
Supply the date of marriage, the groom’s full name, the bride’s maiden name, and your relationship to the person whose record you are requesting.

For a certified copy of a death certificate:
Supply the date of death, the name of deceased, the full name of the deceased’s father, the maiden name of the deceased’s mother and the requestor’s relationship to the person whose record you are requesting.

Marriage License Applications

You may make an appointment for a marriage license application by calling 732-776-7224 extension 41.

The bride should be a resident of the Borough of Neptune City.  If the bride lives out of state, the couple should go to the town where the groom is a resident.  In the event that both the bride and the groom are from out of state, the couple should apply in the town where the marriage is to take place.

The couple and a witness over the age of eighteen who knows the both of them should apply.  The fee is $28, payable in cash or two separate checks; one for $3.00 and one for $28.00.  The bride, the groom and the witness must have valid identification.

Once the application is made, we will hold the application for 72 hours.  After the waiting period, you may pick up the application.  Your marriage license is valid for thirty days and your marriage must occur during this time.

After your marriage takes place, you may obtain a certified copy in the town where the marriage occurs.
