Message from Mayor Thomas A. Arnone
Dear Residents, I would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year. As I start my second four year term as the Mayor of Neptune City, I am looking forward to helping Neptune City move forward. The Redevelopment Process has been four years of hard work for the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Neptune City and the outcome will be a very positive effect for the east side of town. After a long process, we have chosen a very qualified candidate; PRC Group, as our developer. The Council and I are always very proactive when it comes to keeping costs down while maintaining the current level of services to our taxpayers. Shared services is one way the council is looking into saving money. The Borough has currently hired a firm to conduct a study to examine whether or not it would be feasible to join dispatch services for Neptune City and Avon. We received a $21,000 grant to do this study. I have also been in recent contact with the owner of This January, I appointed new members to the Environmental Committee and I expect them to be extremely active this year. One of the goals of the Environmental Committee will be to spruce up our town. I have appointed Phillip Allegro as chairperson of this committee and Irene Allegro and myself as members. The Allegro agency and Kim Nuccio have graciously volunteered their time to finance and install a rain garden at Memorial Park. A rendering of the rain garden can be seen at Borough Hall and the project is set to begin in the Spring. Our road program continues to be successful. We recently were notified that we will receive a $192,000 grant for improvements to Fifth Avenue. This project will allow sidewalks and drainage on Fifth Avenue and the estimated total cost is $200,000. The second project that we will be working on this year is curbing and sidewalks on West Sylvania Avenue, East End Avenue and Neptune Avenue. This project will be funded by the Community Development Block Grant and we will receive $204,000. As you can see we are always moving forward with our road program. Finally, I am also pleased to announce that the Mayor’s Ball will be held on May 10th at The Barclay in Belmar. The proceeds will benefit the Board of Recreation and the Office of Emergency Management. You can support our local organizations and enjoy dancing with the Band of Gold at the same time. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, you can always feel free to contact me at Borough Hall, 732-776-7224 extension 21. Sincerely yours, Thomas A. Arnone Mayor |
